Located at the bottom of the St. Nicolas Stairs, in Gemmayzeh, Rmeil 342 endured damage to its façade and roof.
The North facade (facing the port) lost its triple arches on the first level, and its windows, doors and arches woodwork.
Between November and December 2020, BHI intervened on the reconstruction of the three arches on the first level, using traditional techniques and materials such as Sidawi stone and lime plaster. The Carrara marble balconies on both levels were also restored to their original state.
Beginning 2021, a team of experts, led by Architect Grace Rihan Hanna (BBHR20) completed the renovation of the carpentry works, with the support of UNHCR.
